Support to Married Couples

The cathedral wants to enhance the quality of married life and couples often arrange conversations with the parish clergy to reflect with them on how their marriage is functioning and are there areas where further work could be done either by the couple themselves or with a therapist. In our experience, couples who take the time to look at their marriage are those who are working from strength.

When significant tensions are causing problems the couple can be referred to independent counselors whose orientation is towards saving marriages rather than immediately advocating separation and divorce.

A delightful opportunity that the cathedral enjoys sharing is a renewal of wedding vows at a significant anniversary, 5, 10, 25 or 50 years. A renewal of vows can take place in the church or at home and the cathedral staff can provide resources for planning the service and celebration.
