There are several opportunities at St. Michael’s to give service to the life of the parish. You can contribute to our worship life in many ways. Any of these groups may be accessed through 762-3321 or by e-mailing the Cathedral at smichael@silk.net.
The Servers’ Group
This group, both youth and adults, provides altar servers for the various services. This is an excellent chance to learn more about the traditions of the Church, and to explore your own spiritual roots.
The Altar Guild
Members of the Altar Guild are responsible for preparing the Communion Table for each service. This includes seeing that appropriate vessels are organized, liturgical colours are in place, and that floral decorations arranged. As well, the Guild selects banners for display, manages the linens and vestments, and otherwise sees to the beauty and dignity of worship.
St. Monica’s Guild
St. Michael’s has an active and experienced group who design and make liturgical vestments, seasonal frontals, and decorative liturgical banners for display in the Cathedral. Examples of the work may be viewed here.
The Ushers and Greeters Group
Two functions are served: to extend a warm welcome to all comers at the door, and to distribute worship materials. Ushers also manage seating, take up and count the offering, and manage orderly movement for Communion.
The Music Groups
Information on these program can be found here.
The Cathedral Auxiliary
This very active group of parishioners seeks ways of promoting the life of the congregation, very often in ways that involve food and fellowship! This group has also been a very significant fundraiser, for the past few years to assist the Site Development Program.
The Memorial Committee
This small group identifies projects that would be worthy targets for funding through Memorial gifts that are from time to time made to the Cathedral.
