St. Michael’s provides an excellent program of Christian education for children, using superior materials published by Woods Lake Books of Winfield, the well known publishers of religious materials.
Sunday School takes place in conjunction with the 9:15 Sunday service. Children receive instruction, but also return to the church to participate in a portion of the worship service, and in particular are present during Communion so that they can participate if they wish.
Children very quickly learn about our green bag program which they can pick up on their way into church. Each bag has games, puzzles and coloring pictures to occupy them in the less enjoyable parts of the service.
We follow the practice of inviting children to share in communion even from a very young age. We believe it important for them to understand that church is a place they belong. However, sometimes parents are nervous about children receiving communion so we provide the alternative of their coming to the altar rail for a blessing.
The Sunday School has just added some significant new staff, and their contribution will be obtained to provide a substantial page on the subject of children’s education.
