Greetings in the Name of Jesus Christ,

I welcome you warmly to this website for St. Michael’s Cathedral in Kelowna, British Columbia. This website is a virtual doorway into the life and ministry of Kelowna’s Cathedral. As Kelowna’s only Cathedral, it’s life extends beyond its walls and touches the life of the city in a variety of ways. I encourage you to come in and browse, and through it to taste something of the Spirit of Christ to found among this people and in this place.
The Cathedral Church of St. Michael and All Angel’s is not only a place of worship and ministry for the people of Kelowna. It is also the Mother Church of the Diocese of Kootenay which is a community of congregations committed to a living faith in Jesus Christ who serve him by proclaiming the gospel and reaching out in service to the needs of the world. The Diocese of Kootenay extends from the Okanagan Valley to the BC – Alberta border. As the Cathedral of the Diocese it is a focus of worship and diocesan life and offers leadership and support to the wider Anglican family.
This Diocese is part of the larger community of Anglicans called the Anglican Communion. This communion is a world-wide federation of Christians who share a common history, tradition, structure and style of worship and who are in relationship with the Archbishop of Canterbury. Anglicans have always valued scripture as the foundation of our belief, tradition as informing that belief, and reason as the means by which we express, understand and interpret our belief in every age. Through this website you will be able to access links to the wider community of Anglican Churches.
I am delighted you have come to visit this site. If your journey brings you to the actual doors of St. Michael’s Cathedral, I warmly invite you to come in, to visit, to worship, and to share in the life of Christ celebrated at the altar and in the faith of those who gather in his name.
Faithfully,
The Rt. Rev. John E. Privett
